Audi-we Do It?

Audi

Phoenix Motor Centre once again, leapt into action as a customer brought in their defective Audi A5. The car, being a beautiful 2008 model with a 3 litre engine, had our customer perplexed as to why they could hear noises coming from within the gear box.
4Phoenix wasted no time in what felt like taking the entire car to pieces to solve the issue! After some in depth digging and work on the cobalt blue Audi1 A5, we discovered that the dual mass flywheel had been completely broken up; hence the gearbox noises. Not only is this a huge inconvenience to the driver for the noise, but it is also incredibly dangerous. This Audi A5 model has 172 horsepower; it packs a punch! So we had to ensure that it was fixed correctly as not to incur any future accidents.

After some deliberation between the team, we decided to replace not only the dual mass flywheel, but the clutch, the clutch drive plate and the clutch release bearing! It was a considerable job, taking no less than six hours with our combined efforts.

3We are just happy to say that we successfully fixed the issues with the 2Audi and it is now up and running better than ever. Another proud day for Phoenix Motor Centre.

Mercedes Gearbox Issue?

Our Phoenix Motor Centre experts went all Greased Lightning once again; this time on a sleek Mercedes A class automatic gearbox. A customer from Rayleigh came in complaining of trouble changing gears on their automatic gearbox, so Phoenix Motors leapt to the task. The Mercedes A Class we had to work with belonged to a regular customer of ours and we weren’t quick to lose trust within our clientele.

IMG_0676IMG_0678IMG_0680Automatic gearboxes receive mixed reviews among drivers; some are happy with the fuel efficiency of vehicles, but others are strictly pro-manual, stating they find the added control of the vehicle to be reassuring. Regardless of the claims, automatic gearboxes are becoming more and more popular with drivers and it certainly makes for a smooth drive.

After investigating the underlying issue, we discovered the electrics within the gearbox had become faulty over time, so we had to fix them. Sound easy? Nope!

The part had to be completely removed first and checked over before being fixed! And this is no small component; just look at our pictures. The two on the left show the underside of the Mercedes with the part in and then removed. This image to the right shows the part itself.

Needless to say, soon enough the automatic gearbox had been fixed and the stunning Mercedes A Class motor was on the road again. All in a day's work!

Tank Up Responsibly With Your Mercedes!

Tank Up Responsibly With Your Mercedes!

A customer from Brentwood came into the workshop complaining of an odd banging that they could hear when driving their Mercedes.IMG_0665

Unfortunately, fuel tanks can become heavily rusted or even contaminated. They can be cleaned but it is a mammoth task that only the very brave are willing to do! At Phoenix Motor Centre, we pride ourselves on our efficiency and ability to repair everything, receiving constant positive reviews, but we looked at this and realised it really needed to be replaced.

Just a little background info: Mercedes fuel tanks alone come in a vast range of shapes and sizes, depending on the vehicle it belongs to. Larger and wider tanks allow for a much better fuel capacity, where narrower or smaller ones are best for aerodynamic improvement.

So in order to repair the problem, we had to remove the original rattling tank and replace it with a brand spanking new one. But first, we had to get the fuel tank out… no easy task! The car looked as if it had been taken to pieces; literally! The pictures featured are our own handy work, having taken the fuel tank out and replaced it.

Does this sound like a problem you’re having?
Maybe it needs replacing?

The Audi A5 Clutch Replacement!

How Did We Do It?

Recently, we here at Phoenix Motor Centre had a clutch replacement on a beautiful Audi A5 model from 2009; and what a job!

IMG_0657The A5 is a hugely popular model in the Audi range that spans Coupé, Sportback and the Cabriolet. Beautiful, sleek and fast; it was IMG_0658crucial that the clutch replacement be sorted as quick as possible.

Just a little background info: within a car, a cog like component called the flywheel helps turn the engine on once the key is in the ignition of a car. Similarly, the clutch is also cog or disc like in
shape.
The flywheel is equipped with a friction surface that when in contact with the clutch disc friction surface, allows the car wheels to move. The symptoms of a slipping clutch are typically when the revs go up but the car doesn’t move very fast, as there is less contact on the flywheel. This is a more common problem among clutches as it is usually the friction material on the clutch that begins to wear away.

IMG_0659Unfortunately, all clutches will start slipping eventually as it is a wear and tear item and there is no real way of preventing it beginning to slip. At Phoenix Motor Centre, we pride ourselves on our efficiency and ability to repair everything, receiving constant positive reviews; we jumped at the challenge!IMG_0660
So in order to sort the clutch replacement, we had to remove the gearbox entirely to replace the clutch and the dual mass flywheel, essentially taking much of the car to pieces. The pictures featured are our own handy work! Having taken the gearbox out and replaced the clutch entirely.

Soon the Audi A5 2009 model was up and running again.
